week I spotted it in front of a pawn shop FOR SALE!

Luckily, I filed a great police report when it was stolen and the
police promptly seized it back for me! The poor sucker who sold it to
the pawn shop is going to have some police coming after him.

Alright, alright... I know it's been far too long since I last posted. Rather than create a list of excuses why I'm a horrible blogger I'll use that time catching you up. Here it goes!

Business Acquired-[check]: For the past year I have been working on my own dime trying to get a business off the ground. Well the big news for me is that I basically got bought out! What does that mean? Well, bigger company will buy my concept, research and equipment, put me on a monthly consulting salary and give me a percent of sales. I couldn't be more excited!

Had a birthday-[check]: That's right... I have reached the 27 year mark. I still feel like I'm in the 19-21 year range.

Bought an iPad 2: My thoughts, it's pretty sweet. I'm still trying to understand how it fits into my life. I was pretty comfortable with the role of my smartphone and laptop but... we'll see.

Many Babies were born: Three to be exact. Madison (Cort & Heather), Sofie (Jess & Lisa), Blake (Bryce & Becca)

China: Yes, yes. It was kind of a surprise to me too. I'm actually writing this post from my little shoebox sized room in Honk Kong. Actually I just measured... It's 6'x4', 24 sq.ft. of awesome!

Well, not really... this one was a beast!  I was a little over confident in this race in my training and by eating Mexican food the night before, oh and the temperature also reached 98 deg. at the finish line.  All things considered, it was a great race and I'm happy I did it, next one will be faster!

This weekend was a milestone in my racing career, I made the jump from Olympic to Half Ironman. It was awesome and exhausting. I may be up for an Ironman in a year... we'll see!

This weekend was the Bushman Family Reunion. We had a great time
touring the Norbest Turkey plant the cook farm and other local treats
in Moroni UT. It was great to spend time with dear family and friends,
and we got to shoot rockets in the air!

Last weekend while running my 2nd Ragnar Relay in Phoenix a runner was struck and killed by a car. This is similar to what happened in my 1st Ragnar Relay in Las Vegas. This was quite a sobering thought because both happened only a short distance ahead of where we were in the race, which leads you to think... "that could easily have been me".

When we heard about the incident our team began doing some number in our heads. With 3,000 runners and one death at the last two races. That means their is a .03% chance of death. We worked out the math and figured this would comparable to 35 deaths per home game at the University of Michigan. Kind of crazy. Both accidents were crazy accidents, but Ragnar still needs to take some extra measures to ensure the safety of the runners.

I will still keep on running but will definitely take more care and use night gear, lights, reflectors, etc.

So the past few weeks I have bee doing a lot of painting and measuring for work that I have been doing at my new condo. I plan on putting in some chair railing and redoing the flooring but keep losing the darn scraps of paper with all the measurements on it so today I just decided to model the whole room. Further proving my Google-love and nerdiness I used none other than the wonderful Google Sketchup. I feel like I kind of got carried away, but it was so much fun... I couldn't help myself. I imagine that I will pretty much have to model the whole house before I am satisfied. Here it is... Enjoy!

Yes friends it's true, I did in fact spend two weeks on the east coast... and yes I did work at fashion week. I found myself sitting back and saying to myself "am I really here?!" then I'd sit back and laugh in my head.

Saturday Jesse and I got to go head to head on a trail race. It was an adventure to say the least. There was crazy wind, lightning, hail, rain, mud, and it was pretty chilly. In spite of this it was a fun course and absolutely beautiful. I may have to try some more trail runs!

So two years ago I hiked King's Peak, the tallest mountain in Utah and 7th highest in the continental US, which is in the north west east corner of the state near Wyoming. It must take about to years to forget what a painful experience it can be. For some crazy reason I decided to hike the first day in flip-flips, bad idea. The second day, the day we climb to the top, we also decided to leave at 4am, another bad idea. I got some serious altitude sickness and dehydration (because I kept spewing all my fluids).

Apart from all this, it was a great adventure with some beautiful scenery!

This is a clip of when Tanner (my nephew) was selected to participate in JEDI TRAINING about this time last year at Disneyland. This little boy already loves Star Wars, now his dreams came true! A night with Jerry

So every once and a while you get lucky, real lucky. That was me last
week. On Friday morning I caught wind that Jerry Seinfeld himself
would be coming to the theater nextdoor to my hotel, and it had been
sold out for weeks.

As an avid Seinfeld fan I determined to go a half hour early, find a
scalper and get in. It turns out I took a nap and overslept about 10
minutes into the show (which was fine because I only missed the intro
show). When I got there the streets were empty, no scalpers to be
found! I wandered around for a while with no luck until finally I came
across a nice couple with only one ticket. They like me were having no
luck finding another ticket, so they sold me theirs. It turned out to
be a 4th row center seat...AMAZING!

Pilgrim Episcopal Church: Harlem NY

This morning a woke up to the sweet sound of gospel which faintly
sounded from my opened window.. My hostel happens to be situated in
the heart of black Harlem (126th and Malcome X), and the Pilgrim
Episcopal Church is only a few doors down.

I put on my Sunday best and paid them a visit. The service was
complete with song, dance, and a powerful service on this day of the
pentacost. It was tons of fun and an unforgettable experience.

RECOVERY

To the past three weeks have involved a lot of racing.

This weekend was the Provo half-marathon, last weekend was the BYU Splash-n-Dash, two weekends ago was the Canyonlands Half Marathon. Here is the report from the three races.

Canyonlands Half-Marathon:
So here's the story. I originally didn't make the drawing for the race but a few weeks ago a friend of mine called me up and told me there was a spot I could take the only hitch was that I had to run under the name Katie, her friend who couldn't go. So I did it, and Katie has never run so fast.

It was a great race and I finished with a 1:44:16, about 30 min. better than last year.

Now this race kind of hard due to some lingering pain from the previous weeks' race. This race was a 1 mile swim & 10K run. Not much to say... I had fun!

On iPhone Apps

Alright. So I've been keeping this one a little on the DL for the past few weeks. I am sometimes a little embarrassed to get into all of my side projects. One, because I prefer to not talk about myself and allow others to ask questions, and two because fankly, many of my projects don't pan out.

Anywho, last week myself and a two other friends were able to bring an idea into fruition, iScan. iScan is an app for the iPhone/iPod Touch we came up with. It is pretty much a gag that is designed to "scan" your friends and rate their beauty, mood, or compatibility. It's been very fun to come up with an idea, build it, and then see it in the iTunes store... now we're workin' on marketing it.

So actually getting it on the iTunes store has been a little adventure. We had to go through several version to get approved through apple. The original was loosely based on gay-dar (inspired by the Office) click here for example.

Apparently our Apple reviewers in the Bay Area didn't much care for our sense of humor. We figured they would be able to first determine the preference of a potential person to court then scan for compatibility. In the end we had to remove the feature and stick with attractive, compatibility, and mood features.

This is the first of hopefully many more.

Death of Friend: Nike+

So last week a good friend of my passed... My Nike+. You may have noted the reports from my Nike+ on the right bar of this blog.

Back in February of 2007 I first slipped this little device into my sock and logged my first run. We have spent a lot of time together. Over the past two years it has joined me for over 220 workouts for over 800 miles. It has joined my on some of my most scenic runs, through the lush jungles of Guatemala, the cobblestone roads of Italy, the busy streets of Washington DC, the humid summer nights of Kentucky with fireflies flickering about me, the blazing pavement of Moab, the foggy streets of Fresno, and many a dusty mountain trail.

Last week it died. I soon will have replace it with another.

(For those of you who are not familiar with what a "Nike+" is, it is a little computer chip you slip into your shoe that wirelessly connects to your iPod. It tracks your speed, distance, and calories burned for every work out.)
